In our modern urban world men, women, and their children are not as dependent on each other for survival as they were in an agrarian society.
Matriarchies have proven to remain primitive, and courses in ordinary and partial differential equations are rarely required in women's studies. Thus, the civilization that makes our urban life possible depends on what is known as a patriarchy, with the father the presumed head of the family.
However, survival of our species still depends on intimacy between a man and woman for procreation. And their children have much greater chance of survival if mom and dad live together. But urban life also makes problems between the couple more likely, leading to what is now defined as domestic violence. In an essay published in 2000, Dr. Corry reviews the problems associated with the very human problem of domestic violence that our society has generated.
In a recent essay, Dr. Don Dutton has reviewed the history of society's attempts to deal with domestic conflicts. Unfortunately, feminists have placed the blame for domestic violence exclusively on males, they generally being larger and stronger than human females. This mantra, known as the gender paradigm, is blamed on the patriarchy.
However, multiple social studies over the past 50 years have consistently shown that violence between couples that rises to the level of criminal behavior is mutual in 50% of the cases. In the remaining half of these cases, 30-35% of the time it is the female who perpetrates the violence, and only 15-20% of the time is the male the perpetrator. These findings have now been replicated in study after study.
To the great detriment of Western society, attempts to control domestic violence have been based almost exclusively on the now disproven gender paradigm. As a result, under current laws a man has to be functionally insane to marry, and a drooling idiot to sire a child. This has contributed to a disastrous decline in the birth rate to roughly 1.6 children per female from the minimum of 2.1 required to simply maintain the population.
As married men are more productive than single ones, society produces less than optimum under current laws. Further, single mothers produce very little, and their offspring very rarely become scientists or engineers. And some 90% of men in prison are children of single mothers. Even men who are not imprisoned are all too frequently crippled by criminal records from charges of domestic violence, restraining orders, and child support payments.
Clearly, the gender paradigm is a failed model that is degrading our society without addressing the real causes of couple conflict. Dr. Corry has tabulated some of the human problems that lead to conflict in couples, which current practices exacerbate. If science and living standards are allowed to advance, many of the human problems leading to this conflict will be reduced, although no perfect solution can be achieved. But even today the safest place for a woman is in her home with the biological father of her children.
To fix the problem it is also imperative that the standards of our legal system and the underlying laws be reformed. An end to production line plea bargains based on little or no evidence, too often simply a woman's claims, must occur. Laws must not be based on gender ideology and we must return to the requirement that both mens rea (guilty mind) and actus reus be clearly established by prosecutors at trial before a man can be convicted of a crime.
In addition, a basic requirement is the preservation of families and marriage. That requires an end to “no fault” divorce if the couple have children.
