Tuesday, April 29, 2003 — A 21-year-old Waianae woman was arrested yesterday for attempted murder investigation after she allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend in the arm and severed an artery.

Police said the woman went to her ex-boyfriend's Kailua home about 11:30 AM to drop off their child. The ex-boyfriend, 21, told police he got into an argument with her, and when he turned his back to walk out of the kitchen, she stabbed him in his right arm with a kitchen knife.

The ex-boyfriend was taken to Castle Medical Center for emergency surgery.

April 12, 2004, Kalihi, O'ahu — 43-year-old Steven Yomes was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the stomach. His estranged wife, the suspect, is 44-year-old Gwen Yomes. Investigators say the motive appears to be jealousy. “The wife accused the husband of fooling around. It got heated. She shot him point blank,” said a police investigator.

Police told News 8 that the woman doesn't live in Kalihi, but that she made her way the house on 2539 Kailihi Street, where she shot her husband. Police found a .38 caliber handgun outside the garage at that address.

Gwen Yomes then ran up the street four or six houses to her daughter's house. Police arrested her there.
